Sweet Auburn Barbecue Reviewed

I walked in to Sweet Auburn Barbecue with high expectations as they took the place of one of my favorite restaurants, Pura Vida.  The latter always seemed packed, but I guess some things just aren’t meant to be.  Sweet Auburn isn’t just one of Atlanta’s favorite BBQ restaurants it’s also one of Atlanta’s favorite food trucks.

I strolled in solo, and immediately noticed the size of the bar, and the smell of barbeque.  The bartenders where very kind and knowledgeable, and as it’s my first time, I let them tell me what their most popular item is.  They immediately pointed me towards the Coconut Lemongrass Pork Spareribs, which were as delicious as unique.

The aspect of Sweet Auburn BBQ that makes it unique, and stands out for me is the menu. I mean Coconut Lemongrass sauce over ribs is not your typical rib fare.  The ribs were smoked to perfection, nice and crispy on the outside while still juicy on the inside.

The Coconut Lemongrass sauce reminded me a bit of peanutbutter, but it was still delicious, and the macaroni and cheese was definitely on point.

Also delicious is the Southern Seoul Sandwich which is basically a BBQ pork banh mi with a hamburger bun instead of french bread.  It is absolutely delicious, and one of the best items I’ve had on the menu.

If you’re not in the mood for either pork or pork, then you might want to turn towards the wings, which are cooked to perfection.   I devoured 12 wings in about 3.52 minutes.
