Aaron and I were hungry and we decided to see if we could find a parking spot near Surin of Thailand, located in Poncey Highland, within a mile of home. Well, there was a parking spot right smack dab in front of the restaurant. So we decided to re-visit this neighborhood old-timer. Even my favorite table, the four-top in the corner by the bar was available. A good start. The restaurant was about half full on this Wednesday night and the wait staff was adequately attentive. The food was interesting and above average. We started with a Fresh Basil Roll and Chicken Satay. They were both good. More or less what you would expect.
The real treats were the main courses. I ordered the Fancy Thai Sausage, which is actually on the appetizer menu, but, as you can see from the picture, it is a large lettuce salad with many pieces of Thai sausage and a light Thai sauce as a dressing. At $7.95 this is a great deal. The Thai Sausage is well cooked, almost light jerky, but soft and delicious with the salad and dressing. Aaron had the Salmon with Shu She Curry sauce. He loved it. The salmon was a huge portion, cooked perfectly and the curry sauce and veggies were delicious. No dessert for us. Overall a really good meal.
Note for those looking for a bargain: Surin has 1/2 price appetizers from 5:00 – 7:00 on Wednesdays.
